¿Qué es Adiponectin?

Adiponectin is a protein hormone secreted exclusively by adipose (fat) tissue that plays a central role in regulating glucose metabolism, fatty acid oxidation, and inflammation. Paradoxically, despite being produced by fat cells, adiponectin levels are inversely related to body fat—the more adipose tissue a person has (particularly visceral fat), the lower their adiponectin levels.
